Moody’s Reaffirms Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s AA Rating
RDU Airport, NC – Moody’s Investors Service recently announced it has reaffirmed Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s Aa3 rating with an outlook of stable. The announcement was made today at the monthly meeting of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority board.
According to a statement from Moody’s, “The Aa3 rating is supported by the strong and growing Raleigh-Durham CSA economy, evenly distributed airline service with four providers accounting for 16 percent of enplanements each in a primarily origin and destination market, and ample liquidity well above the industry median.”

Hurricane Sandy Impacts Passenger Numbers in October
The number of passengers traveling through RDU in October fell by 1.4 percent compared to October 2011. The decrease can be attributed to Hurricane Sandy. Over a four day period, 413 flights were canceled in and out of RDU. For the year, the number of passengers traveling through RDU is up 0.4 percent compared to the first 10 months of 2011.
Also a reflection of the impact of Sandy is the number of flight operations. In October, the number of takeoffs and landings at RDU fell by 8 percent compared to October 2011.
